Description
Equipment Calibration and Maintenance:
o Calibrate and maintain metrology equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), gauges, micrometers, and laser scanning tools.
o Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues in both lab and production environments.
Measurement and Inspection:
o Conduct dimensional inspections and precision measurements of automotive components using advanced metrology tools.
o Support production and engineering teams with first article inspections (FAI) and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
o Validate measurement methods for complex parts, including those with tight tolerances and advanced geometries.
Compliance and Documentation:
o Ensure all metrology processes align with IATF 16949 and ISO 19001 standards.
o Maintain accurate documentation, including calibration records, inspection reports, and equipment validation logs for the metrology lab equipment.
o Develop, implement, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for metrology operations.
? Data Analysis and Process Improvement:
o Analyze measurement data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
o Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve dimensional and tolerance issues.
o Use tools such as Gage R&R to monitor and improve measurement accuracy and consistency.
Cross-Functional Support:
o Provide metrology support to engineering, supplier quality and quality teams during new product introductions and design changes.
o Work with suppliers during new product launches and design changes to align measurement methods and document them in Solero’s Management System.
o Train operators and technicians on proper measurement techniques and equipment usage.
o Assist in customer and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with industry and client standards.
Training and Support:
o Provide training to technicians and operators on the proper use and care of measurement tools.
o Serve as a subject matter expert on metrology and assist in the selection of new equipment.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications, such as GD&T Certification or ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, are a plus.
Experience:
-Minimum 3-5 years in a metrology or quality assurance role, preferably in the Tier 1 automotive industry.
-Hands-on experience with advanced measurement systems and tools, including CMMs, gauges, and optical measurement systems.
-Familiarity with IATF 16949 standards and quality processes, including PPAP and FAI.
-Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab) is an advantage.
