Job Title: Child Development Center Lead Teacher

SUMMARY: Plans, implements, and supervises learning activities for young children in a training lab setting in accordance with the goals and philosophy of the center, while providing guidance and support for students in the Early Care & Education program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: including the following, but not limited to:
Provides planned activities to address the individual needs of young children that meet interest areas assigned to.
Observes children routinely for use in intentional curriculum planning and for conducting parent/guardian conferences.
Observations compiled to maintain current portfolios for each child assigned to.
Maintains current lesson plans.
Provides an engaging environment for exploration and discovery, while maintaining safety.
Provides continual supervision of children.
Provides custodial care for assigned age group using safe and sanitary procedures in regard to children, adults, materials, supplies, furniture, and facilities.
Understands and practices positive discipline and nurturing guidance.
Develops and maintains a positive relationship between the center, the children, the students, and the families.
Maintains ongoing communication of pertinent information, including but not limited to, daily and/or weekly family communication.
Maintains a neat, organized, and sanitary environment both indoors & outdoors.
Monitors inventory and reports needs, including repairs, to the Director.
Assumes an equal share of housekeeping, kitchen, and laundry duties as needed.
Completes and submits all forms and data as required by the Child Care Director and the Early Care & Education Instructor.
Responsible for weekly evaluations on the Early Care & Education students assigned to group.
Supervises, supports, and gives guidance to Assistant Teacher as well as the Early Care & Education students.
Works cooperatively with all staff to maintain all regulatory compliances as well as obtaining center goals.
Maintains a commitment to the program. Attends conferences, meetings, special events, staff development opportunities.
Maintains a professional attitude of confidentiality. Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to the center dress code.
Follows and adheres to policies set forth by EOC Tech, EOC Tech CDC, OKDHS, accrediting body, and other governing agencies.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: CDA, twelve credit hours of Child Development coursework and completion of CDA process within 18 months of employment, and Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a two-year vocational program and completion of CDA process within 18 months of employment. Has a complete Criminal History Background Check
Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR, Early Learning Guidelines
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to staff, students, children, families, and other employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PERFORMANCE: According to The Oklahoma Core Competencies-Core Knowledge for Early Childhood Professionals and EOC Tech CDC expectations set forth by the procedures and practices manual, the following levels should be met based on individual experience and education:
Novice: 0-6 months of experience with no education
Foundation: 7 months to 2 years of experience with Assistant Teacher credential
Skilled: 3 years of experience with a Master Teacher credential
Proficient: 4 plus years of experience with a Master Teacher credential
