The Manufacturing Technical Liaison is responsible for supporting manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and operations in the manufacturing of engines and transmissions by facilitating such activities as identifying root causes, ensuring takt time, first to identify equipment faults, take corrective action, and ensure preventive measures are taken to eliminate downtime and increase throughput. Ensure proper communication is shared and presented within the Real Time Management meeting (RTM), pulse, and Change Point Management (CPM) meetings within assembly.
Working within the Production & Logistics (P&L) Way, read and follow written and verbal work instructions and standard operating procedures with emphasis on safety and quality inclusive of:
- Responds with a sense of urgency to deviations and stops in automatic cell calls in the assembly line
- Responds to equipment faults, identifies equipment issues and organizes support from maintenance to address the issue
- Monitors the operation of the assembly line, identifies issues, and contributes to the identification of improvements in the manufacturing process and its equipment
- Receives deviations in assembly, develops action plans, completes all containment activities relating to deviations, ensures proper documentation of containment and creates action plan
- Initiates the safe start up process of equipment prior to the start of production, identifies start up issues to maintenance to ensure timely fixes prior to start-up
- Adjusts TAKT panels in real time, according to production demands (scheduled start/stop, volume adjustments etc.)
- Proactively communicates critical and detailed information to production Supervisor, Team Leader and Maintenance
- Initiates problem solving activities and utilizes root cause analysis tools in partnership with production leadership and engineering teams
- Attends and actively participates in the Real Time Management (RTM) and Pulse meetings
- Demonstrates overall safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines
- Identifies and corrects potentially unsafe situations/conditions and escalates to the appropriate team to improve safety
- Follows accepted housekeeping assignments (5S) and assures work areas meet acceptable housekeeping and safety standards
- Performs routine inspections on products, processes, materials to assure work output meets specifications of shop floor paperwork
- May perform assembly and installation of parts using hand tools, air tools and/or power tools
- Utilizes expertise in one or more areas of production or production support
- Actively solves problems within the work team, escalating for appropriate support and cross-functional teams as necessary
- Contributes knowledge to improve Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
- May be required to work on assembly line due to business demands
- Other duties as assigned
- At least 3 years of manufacturing/production experience
OR
- At least 2 years of manufacturing/production
- At least 1 year of technical secondary education in maintenance or engineering
