Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Residential Trainer will be responsible for the daily operation of the half-way house.  This includes such: teaching life management and overall recovery skills and preparation for independent living.  The RA is expected to oversee maintenance of the unit, equipment and residents.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable persons with disabilities.  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, lift, and or move up to 35 pounds.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

   1.    Acclimate and supervise new residents to the procedures, rules, and regulations of the Halfway House.

   2.    Implement the recovery plan(s) for those assigned residents.

   3.    Monitor and evaluate the recovery process.

  4.    Participate in the team staffing process.

  5.    Maintain the logbook and write incident reports.

  6.    Consult with the Senior Resident Advisor as necessary to implement treatment plans.

  7.    Provide supportive counseling as needed.

  8.    Monitor residents’ health, welfare, and safety under the direction of the Senior Resident Advisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate w/some college experience.

Willingness to pursue IAODAPCA CADC certification.

Excellent Communication and Other Social Skills.

Willingness to share personal skills.

 Computer Literacy (i.e. proficient in Microsoft Word/Works, WordPerfect, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

 Experience - Three years of work in a residential treatment setting.
