Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on engineering projects from concept through feasibility, design, prototyping, implementation, and final buy-off
  • Conduct time studies and develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Collaborate with production teams to drive process improvements for efficiency, quality, and safety
  • Participate in equipment design reviews, procurement, installation, and commissioning
  • Ensure all equipment meets safety standards, including Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSHSR)
  • Train plant personnel on new equipment, processes, and safety procedures
  • Analyze workflows, layouts, and space utilization to improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools (5S, visual management)
  • Create and maintain equipment standards, documentation, and best practices
  • Support quality systems including PFMEA, control plans, and APQP
  • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety management systems
  • Conduct engineering analysis to improve production processes
  • Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment uptime and reliability
  • Perform capacity planning and bottleneck analysis
  • Evaluate capital investments using ROI analysis
  • Collaborate with product engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products
  • Promote company values and a culture of continuous improvement

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and incidents promptly
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Support workplace violence and harassment policies
  • Attend and support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and process development
  • Commercial awareness (cost, time, production impact)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S
  • Knowledge of machining, mechanical drawings, and production equipment
  • Experience with APQP, PFMEA, and quality systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation is an asset
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience
  • 3+ years working with production equipment and process improvements
  • Hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement
  • 3–5 years of CAD experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
