Responsibilities What do your days look like as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic? Perform diagnostics and repairs on construction equipment, trucks, and generators; Support terminal operations through preventive maintenance on all types of equipment; Work closely with the parts clerk on the purchasing and inventory management of mechanical parts. Qualifications To be successful as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you must have: Three to five (3–5) years of experience as a certified heavy equipment mechanic; A vocational diploma (DEP) in construction equipment mechanics or heavy equipment mechanics; A Class 3 driver’s license (an asset); A welding qualification certificate (an asset); Diesel ASP certification (an asset); Experience with alternating current (electromechanics) (an asset); Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (12–24 volts); Ability to read electrical (12–24 volts) and hydraulic schematics; Knowledge of Komatsu and Volvo troubleshooting systems; Ability to work in challenging weather conditions; Availability to work days, weekends, and holidays.
