About the role:
We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Engineer to lead the design and user experience strategy for modern, scalable web applications. This role requires a strong blend of product thinking, interaction design, and front-end collaboration to deliver intuitive, high-performing digital experiences.
Experience designing or building web applications within U.S. school systems (K-12 or higher education) is highly preferred.
This individual will work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to transform business requirements into elegant, user-centered solutions.

Requirements

  • Design intuitive and accessible web-based user interfaces
  • Translate complex workflows into simple, user-friendly experiences
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and interaction models
  • Create design systems and reusable UI component libraries
  • Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation
  • Conduct usability testing and incorporate feedback into iterative design improvements
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Optimize UX for performance, scalability, and cross-device responsiveness
  • Contribute to product strategy with user-centered insights

Required Qualification:
  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design for web applications

  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong understanding of usability principles and human-centered design
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams
  • Experience creating scalable design systems
  • Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience designing systems for U.S. K-12 or higher education environments
  • Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS), LMS platforms, or school administration tools
  • Understanding of FERPA considerations and privacy-centric UX design
  • Experience designing dashboards for administrators, teachers, and parents
  • Exposure to EdTech platforms such as PowerSchool, Clever, ClassLink, etc.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (React, HTML, CSS)

Technical Skills:
  • Design & Prototyping: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, Miro
  • Front-End Engineering: React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, Tailwind
  • Testing & QA: Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Storybook
