Job Description

SUMMARY: The Safety & Operational Risk Coordinator supports the safe and efficient operation of Seaboard Energy’s production facilities by coordinating the implementation and execution of the company’s OMS elements at the St. Joseph facility. This role assists in maintaining and improving training programs and operating procedures to ensure compliance with baseline requirements. Serving as a cross-functional liaison, the Safety & Operational Risk Coordinator promotes consistency with OMS standards and coordinates SOP updates, certification, and training in support of the process of safety and environmental programs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion.

  • Support the execution of the Operations Management System by ensuring personnel understand and follow defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, practices, and training programs for plant operations, logistics, and maintenance.
  • Coach and support plant personnel in safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance practices.
  • Assist in establishing and reinforcing disciplined operations through standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and training.
  • Participate in risk identification and mitigation activities, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change (MOC), and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Maintain and support document control for process safety information and related systems.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis, support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Partner with the Safety & Operational Risk Manager to support emergency preparedness activities, including training and drills.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Reliability teams to support the integrity and performance of plant assets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance safety, reliability, and production performance.
  • Support Safety & Operational Risk Manager with compliance of all federal and state safety and environmental regulations by providing consistent leadership, direction, and interpretation across the facility.
  • Monitor compliance performance and drive timely completion of all regulatory and internal requirements.

  • High School diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in refinery operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation.
  • Field experience in plant operations and maintenance required.
  • Ability to read and write effective reports, spreadsheets and business correspondence using standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Effective oral presentation skills required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is primarily operational and requires significant physical activity. The role involves frequent walking, standing, and stair climbing, along with lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Employees will regularly perform pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Work is often conducted in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions, with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, and moisture. Adequate visual acuity for reading and monitoring equipment, as well as effective communication skills for verbal and written interactions, are essential. Employees must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) for their work areas.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment consists of office, plant production, and outside climate conditions. Noise level varies within the production area.

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Working hours to be determined. Occasionally extended hours or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
