About the Department

Carteret Community College, Morehead City, NC is seeking a passionate and experienced part-time Massage Therapy Instructor to join our college community.   The ideal candidate will have a strong background in massage therapy, excellent communication skills, and a desire to inspire and educate future massage therapists. As a Massage Therapy Instructor, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging curriculum, providing hands-on instruction, and guiding students through their journey of learning and development.  To apply, interested candidates need to fully complete the online application and attach a resume and cover letter.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Hourly pay rate is commensurate with education and experience.

Position Duties

• Develop comprehensive lesson plans and course materials that align with curriculum objectives and industry standards.
• Deliver dynamic and interactive classroom instruction, incorporating a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
• Provide individualized feedback and support to students to facilitate their skill development and academic progress.
• Demonstrate proper massage techniques and protocols, ensuring students develop proficiency and confidence in their practice.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages collaboration, respect, and professionalism among students and faculty.
• Stay current with developments in the field of massage therapy and incorporate new research and techniques into the curriculum as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• Must hold a valid massage therapy license issued by the NC Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy
• At least two years of professional experience in the subject area

• North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy license
• Maintain CEU's as set forth by the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy
• Received certification to teach a trademarked modality if such certification is available. 

• Previous experience teaching or training others in massage therapy or related fields preferred.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as they relate to massage therapy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students.
• Patient, empathetic, and supportive attitude towards students from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting professional integrity in the practice of massage therapy.

• Requires mobility, and the ability to stand for long periods of time, performing demonstrations of all basic massage therapy services. 
• Ability to lift/maneuver up to 50 lbs.
