Job Description

Title: Elementary Teacher (K-6)

Reports To: Building Principal

Department: Building                   

Classification: 10 month certified

FLSA Status: Not exempt

JOB OVERVIEW:

Provide differentiated instruction with a variety of assessments in an environment conducive to learning


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires a Self Contained General Education K-9 or Self Contained Birth-Grade3 Endorsement
  • A completed/submitted online application to include resumé and letters of recommendation as required on the online application
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License or other License as required
  • Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first; recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will also be considered
  • The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and learning standards
  • Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
  • Utilize instructional management systems that maximize student learning
  • Differentiate instruction and monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals
  • Plans and supervises assignments for assistants and volunteers
  • Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships
  • Meet professional responsibilities as outlined in the Staff Handbook
  • Continue to seek professional development opportunities as required by the State for license renewal
  • Maintain professional work habits
  • Communicate effectively within the educational community
  • Maintain your Professional Educator License as required by law
