Position Summary
Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping Operator (C) main task is to:
Processing packages for the purpose of receiving, storing, and sending inventory according to purchase orders and shipping schedules.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Follow written or oral instructions regarding daily tasks and job duties.
• Prepare packages for shipments. Ensure that all packages are cleaned, safely secured, packed, and labeled for shipment according to order and customer requirements.
• Thoroughly inspecting packages for any damages and discrepancies.
• Accurately recording warehouse inventory movements of all packages received and shipped on Purchase orders and sales orders.
• Complete inventory movements physically and within company ERP system.
• Identify any missing, lost, or damaged materials and immediately notify the supervisor.
• Ensuring safe and efficient transporting of materials within and outside of the warehouse.
• Complete paperwork and other minor administrative tasks carefully ensuring all information is entered correctly and clearly
• Safe operation of Powered Industrial Truck (forklift) according to regulations.
• Use a forklift to load and unload materials, packages, and equipment in a warehouse environment.
• Complying with safety standards and warehouse protocols for equipment use. Perform plant cleanup standard tasks during and at the end of an operation or workday.
• Exhibit and practices the Third Coast Way fundamental behaviors.
Knowledge and Skills:
• High School Graduate or GED (preferred but not required).
Work Experience:
• Minimum of 6 months warehouse experience.
• Knowledge of and experience working with hazardous materials.
Skills and Competencies:
• Must be able to multitask, stay organized, detailed, and focused and show a high level of initiative.
• Ability to identify and then implement process and productivity improvements.
• Ability to complete paperwork accurately and completely, understand the importance of detail and accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
• Computer/ERP system experience.
• Must have a desire to learn, grow and take on additional responsibilities.
• Must be able to learn quickly, retain knowledge and follow instructions.
• Must be able to read and interpret a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
Physical Requirements
• Warehouse environment can expose Team members to temperature fluctuations (hot/cold).
• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use their hands and arms to handle, feel, or reach.
• The team member frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• The team member is occasionally required to sit.
• The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift 50 pounds and occasionally move or manipulate drums weighing between 200 to 600 pounds.
