Divisional Overview:


The Tax department handles the computation and preparation of regular tax filings, transfer pricing calculation & analyses, and related documentation / reporting. This department is organized into three specialized units: the Direct Tax team, the Indirect Tax team, and the Transfer Pricing team.


 


Business Overview:


The transfer pricing team operates as a global function, conducting calculations across Nomura's diverse financial activities. Given the rapidly evolving business landscape, the team must stay current with regulatory developments and knowledge updates while developing sophisticated models that align with Nomura's operational framework and meet tax authority requirements.

  • Execute and oversee transfer pricing operations: Perform comprehensive transfer pricing calculations and reports while establishing robust controls and governance frameworks

  • Optimize global processes: Evaluate and enhance current data models and workflows to achieve greater consistency, simplicity, and operational efficiency across all regions

  • Drive digital transformation: Deploy advanced technology solutions, including Power BI, to strengthen governance frameworks and increase transparency in transfer pricing policies, processes, and outcomes

  • Foster stakeholder collaboration: Maintain proactive communication with regional counterparts to identify, escalate, and resolve transfer pricing challenges effectively

  • Enable cross-functional partnerships: Work closely with Finance and Business teams to develop deep understanding of business operations and products, ensuring accurate data interpretation for transfer pricing calculations and meaningful post-analysis insights

  • Deliver on commitments: Meet agreed timelines and service level agreements while efficiently managing ad-hoc requests and queries from regional teams

  • Stay current with regulatory landscape: Monitor and analyze tax law changes and regulatory updates that impact transfer pricing functions
