Serving Maine’s Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members.
MSAD 75 is seeking a Middle School Paraprofessional to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
Pay Rate: $23.68-$28.04/hour (Based on Experience/BHP Certificate)
JOB GOALS: The paraprofessional works closely with teachers, administrators and other team members to improve learning for all students, foster inclusive environments, and carry out tasks associated with the teaching process. The work of the paraprofessional is performed under the supervision of general education teachers, special educators and learning strategists. The District remains committed to placing Paraprofessionals where they can most effectively support our students. Specific assignments and locations may be shifted based on student needs around the District.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- State of Maine Department of Education Educational Technician I, II or III Certification
- State of Maine Department of Education Background Check (CHRC) authorization
- Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Certification or ability to obtain
- Mandt trained or ability to obtain
- Strong behavioral management skills, ability to consistently follow and implement positive behavior support plans
- Demonstrated record keeping skills
- Proven ability to function as a team member
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50+ lbs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaboration for Core Instruction:
- As directed by the supervising teacher(s), modifies curriculum and/or instructional activities including locating, creating, copying, distributing, and/or grouping materials to support instructional activities.
- Works with students to reinforce and support learning of materials or skills (academic, social, and behavioral) initially introduced by the supervising teacher(s).
- Supervises students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, schoolyards, and on field trips.
- Provides support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Participates in staff development opportunities provided by the district.
- Collaboration for Intervention:
- Uses lesson plans to assist in instruction and reinforcement of student learning for individual or small-group instruction as directed by the supervising teacher(s).
- Assists in data collection (behavioral, academic, and medical), including progress monitoring of individualized IEP goals.
- Monitors, maintains, and reinforces behavior supports for individual student behavioral support plans created by the supervising teacher(s) and other certified personnel.
- Assists identified students with specific personal, medical, or physical needs.
- Provides assistance to students with diverse learning needs, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Works with other professionals, such as speech-language pathologists, social workers, and occupational/physical therapists as directed and needed.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community (particularly vital for intervention/IEP records).
