WHAT THIS ROLE WILL BE DOING:

The Assistant Distribution Manager will support the Distribution Manager in overseeing the warehouse office and staff, taking responsibility for maintaining proper safety procedures, proper maintenance of the facility and equipment, and ensuring that we accurately distribute quality building materials on a predictable schedule that fulfills our customer’s needs.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  (not limited to)

·         Daily communication with all employees to ensure all the objectives for the day are met in a timely manner

·         Use current reports to make management decisions and changes to staff.

o    Productivity within Warehouse (orders shipped, errors, transactions, etc.)

·         Ensure that warehouse best practices and disciplines are being followed

·         Oversee that incoming materials have been properly received and put away in preparation for picking.

·         Ensure that all daily orders have been routed and shipped

·         Review and maintain all reports that are your responsibility

·         Maintain appropriate staffing based on our seasonal business - Work with Human Resources and Distribution Management for approvals

·         Ensure good communication between Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Credit and all other Warehouses to ensure that customers commitments have been satisfied  

·         Maintain a positive and CLEAN work environment in conjunction with maintaining and enforcing all SAFETY procedures while ensuring warehouse team is following procedures as well

·         Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment, buildings and grounds

·         Ensure that all processes and procedures are followed to ensure Customer satisfaction

·         Respond promptly to all email and phone messages from your Managers and other Departments

·         Perform Monthly and Yearly Performance reviews on all employees

·         Regular communication with the Distribution Manager.

·         Take full ownership of warehouse performance through financial reporting analysis

·         All other tasks as assigned by Management.

 

AN ASSITANT DISTRIBUTION MANAGER WILL POSSESS AND DEMONSTRATE:

·         Ability to Lead and promote safety culture which aligns with Wausau Supply Co. core values

·         Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining solid communication skills both verbally and especially by e-mail

·         Ability to work independently while demonstrating leadership skills that portray excellent team work mentality

·         Overall safety mindset is crucial to create an imbedded culture of safety within the employee population.

·         Problem solving and innovative solutions to eliminate obstacles

·         Dynamic self-motivation and ability to work a flexible schedule

·         Assist with the Warehouse Training Support Team

·         Assist with Will-Call Customer pickups

·         Oversee/Take care of Inventory Health Report

·         Ensure the Cycle counts are done and variance reports are correct

·         Perform daily walk-through’s of the warehouse checking for cleanness

·         Perform daily safety walk-throughs of the warehouse

·         Ability to maintain positive moral within the workforce

  

Education / Experience:

·         Associates or Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Management, or Finance.  Or equivalent combination of education and experience

·         5 to 10+ years manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling experience

·         3 to 5+ years manufacturing or warehouse leadership and supervisory experience

·         Logistics and transportation management experience to support a fleet of tractor/trailers preferred but not required

·         Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) rules and guidelines preferred but not required

 

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds

·         Ability to stand/bend/walk for long periods of time

·         Ability to work flexible shifts to support training objectives

 

REPORTS TO:  Senior Distribution Manager
