Site Operations Summer Intern

Scope & Purpose

Community First! Village is a 51-acre master-planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing, and a supportive community for the chronically homeless in Travis County. The Site Operations Department is responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of 51 acres of existing community and a 127 acre expansion currently under construction. The Site Operations Summer Intern is an integral part of the Site Operations Department. The primary role of the Site Operations Summer Intern is to provide information management support for projects at Community First! Village.

This is a part-time, non-exempt internship position working within the Site Operations Department and reporting to the Design Manager. Due to the nature and requirements of the position, hours are flexible to fit needs, but are typically 20 hours Monday-Friday. The Site Operations Summer Intern will office at the Community First! Village located at 9116 Hog Eye Road, Austin, TX 78724.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identify and document products and finishes used at all commercial buildings

• Inventory and tag commercial furniture used in all commercial buildings

• Develop and update as-built maps to accurately reflect existing site conditions

• Support re-organization of as-built project libraries in MS Sharepoint

• Assist with procurement of owner-provided scope (furniture, equipment, signage, etc) for commercial buildings at Burleson site

• Attend MLF staff meetings and events.

• Preference for students currently pursuing a degree in architecture, interior design, architectural engineering, or construction management. Students in other degree areas are encouraged to apply if other skills are met.

• Strong design sensibility and ability to represent the aesthetic goals of CFV's built environment.

• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.

• Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Sharepoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Bluebeam are desired but not a requirement to apply.

• Ability to creatively problem-solve when faced with unexpected or unique challenges.

• Must have a valid driver's license.

Learning Opportunities

• Strengthen skills in construction software such as Bluebeam and Excel.

• Gain familiarity with the types of architectural products and finishes used in commercial buildings.

• Apply organizational skills to develop information management processes that will allow the department to function more efficiently.

• Gain familiarity with design, construction, and maintenance at multiple scales, ranging from tiny homes to community buildings to site infrastructure.

Program Information

• Estimated length of program: 10 weeks beginning Summer 2026

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to work in an office setting with adjustable chairs and desks.

• Ability to move around the site, primarily within commercial buildings. Excessive time outdoors will be avoided due to high summer temperatures.
