Head Groundskeeper – Facilities Department

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance of District grounds. Participates in the employee selection process and assists in training new employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires 2 to 5 years of job-related prior experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Requires a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Requires completion of Asbestos Awareness Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned
- Directs and distributes labor assignments to the groundskeepers.
- Evaluates conditions of District grounds and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Participates in the employee selection process.
- Oversees and participates in the preparation of athletic fields and playgrounds.
- Coordinates and participates in the removal of snow and ice.
- Trains new employees or delegates training duties to other crew members and assists in evaluating performance.
- Safely maintains and ensures the beauty of the grounds including cutting grass, controlling weeds, trimming, landscaping and caring for plants, trees and shrubs.
- Hauls dirt, sand, gravel and mulch.
- Operates and maintains grounds maintenance equipment and ensures its safety.
- Moves heavy objects and equipment.
- Repairs fences.
- Repairs and installs asphalt and concrete as needed.
- Coordinates groundskeeping and related projects within the District.
- Assists other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Serves as a substitute custodian as needed.
COMPENSATION FOR EXPERIENCE IS CONSIDERED, 2025-2026 Classified Salary Schedule
