About the Department

With minimal supervision, the Administrative Assistant provides support and coordination of day-to-day operations of Circuit Public Defender Office. The Administrative Assistant assists in the maintenance and production of records, case management data, budget information and other data and information as required. The Administrative Assistant assists the Circuit Public Defender in establishing and monitoring compliance with policies and procedures within the judicial circuit. The Administrative Assistant performs a wide variety of complex administrative support functions and/or technical support duties. The Administrative Assistant may be assigned additional duties by the Circuit Public Defender.

 

Position Duties

 Administrative Assistant must have a high school diploma and work experience related to the area of employment.  A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.

 Travel, including occasional overnight travel, may be required.   A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of the principles, policies and practices of office management.  Knowledge of applicable terminology and research practices.  Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies and organizational functions.  Ability to plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.  Ability to communicate effectively.  Ability to train other employees.  Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public.  Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
