    POSITION TITLE:  Instructional Paraprofessional Computer Lab

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

    REPORTS TO: Principal 

    LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 178 days

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associates degree, 60 college credit hours, or passing score on ParaPro Praxis exam

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Share and support the vision to create an individualized education program for each student.
    • Facilitate targeted interventions and assist in courses as required.
    • Provide supervision and instruction in the computer lab, including assisting students with technology use and implementation of district-approved digital curriculum.
    • Provide reports on the progress of all students.
    • Serve as a liaison between instructors and students.
    • Provide individual or small group instruction.
    • Assist in implementing behavior management activities.
    • Maintain a structured, safe, and orderly learning environment in both classroom and computer lab settings.
    • Perform clerical duties which may include: collection and recording of data, preparing classroom and computer lab materials, and entering data into a computer program.
    • Attend conferences or meetings, as deemed appropriate/necessary.
    • Attend appropriate training sessions. If applicable, annually obtain a specified number of professional development hours.
    • Accompany students to general education classroom, cafeteria, playground, restroom, computer lab, and/or other locations on the school campus.
    • Participate in community-based instruction activities.
    • Conduct student programming assessments and/or screenings, per instrument administration guidelines/evaluator qualifications.
    • Demonstrate proficiency with technology and the ability to support student learning through computer-based instruction. Maintain a willingness to learn procedures when working with students and demonstrate a solid understanding of classroom management.
    • Maintain emotional control under stress.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS

    Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  The ability to write routine reports or correspondence.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to interpret bar graphs.

    CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

    Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature. 

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring all questionable cases to the supervisor.

    PLANNING

    Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in the planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation. 

    MENTAL DEMAND

    Operations requiring close and continuous attention for control of operations.  Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization's administration and operation; also to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved.

    ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING

    Fairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided supervision.  

    USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENTS AND/OR COMPUTERS

    Regular use of complex machines and equipment.  (computer, fax, laminator, copier, printer or iPad)

    Frequent contacts with the general public, patrons, or other outside representatives, wherein the manner of handling these contacts has a bearing on the organization's position and operation.  Employees must adhere to the district's confidentiality statement.
