Job Description: Lab Assistant, HVAC
Department: Business & Industry Pay Classification: PT/Hourly
Reports To: Program Coordinator of HVAC FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary: The Lab Assistant, HVAC provides instructional and operational support for HVAC laboratory courses. Assists faculty and the Program Coordinator in preparing, maintaining, and organizing HVAC lab environments to support effective hands-on instruction. Supports student learning by ensuring equipment readiness, lab safety, and instructional efficiency.
Minimum Required
Education: HVAC certification from accredited college or trade school
Or the equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills
Associates degree preferred.
Minimum Required
Experience: Specialized training in HVAC and/or relevant industry certifications
Three years of recent, successful work experience in the HVAC field or a closely related industry
Core Duties and
Required Knowledge: Demonstrates working knowledge of HVAC tools, equipment, and laboratory safety practices.
Applies industry-standard HVAC terminology and procedures in instructional and lab settings.
Supports lab instruction by assisting faculty during hands-on training activities.
Maintains awareness of institutional policies, safety guidelines, and instructional standards.
Upholds the mission, values, and Code of Conduct of Hill College in all interactions with students and staff.
Strategic Vision and
Program Development: Supports the instructional goals of the HVAC program by maintaining organized, functional, and safe lab environments.
Assists with continuous improvement of lab operations through proper equipment care and supply management.
Encourages student engagement and skill development through effective lab preparation and support.
Collaboration: Works closely with HVAC faculty and the Program Coordinator to support instructional delivery.
Communicates equipment needs, maintenance concerns, and supply shortages in a timely manner.
Interacts professionally with students, faculty, and staff to promote a positive learning environment.

Other Information: Evening hours may be required based on instructional schedules
