As an HR Analyst  you will review, enter and validate employee human resources transactions to ensure compliance with HR policies, system integrity, and payroll readiness. This role works with other HR and cross functional partners, supporting data governance, regulatory compliance, audits, and continuous process improvement while contributing to HR projects and employee onboarding.

•    Analyze and evaluate employee lifecycle actions (hires, job changes, compensation updates, terminations) to ensure alignment with HR policies, compensation guidelines, and organizational standards prior to system execution.
•    Enter employee data after reviewing Personnel Change Requests (PCRs), identifying inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective actions, and advising on required adjustments.
•    Work with HR Business Partners, Recruiters, Payroll, and Compensation teams on HR data impacts, system requirements, and process considerations for workforce changes.
•    Ensure payroll readiness activities by analyzing employee data changes, identifies trends or discrepancies, recommends resolutions, and coordinates with Payroll to mitigate risk before processing deadlines.
•    Interprets and applies HR policies and procedures when entering and addressing complex employee inquiries related to pay, deductions, tax withholding, and data corrections.
•    Maintain data governance standards within SAP by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of employee and organizational information, including positions, reporting relationships, and organizational units.
•    Support regulatory compliance by independently monitoring I-9 and E-Verify requirements, evaluating documentation issues, and advising HR leadership on re-verification or escalation needs.
•    Prepare documented responses for audits and legal requests, analyzes scope and accuracy of HRAS records prior to submission.
•    Identify process improvement opportunities through analysis of recurring errors, inefficiencies, or control process gaps and recommends enhancements to HR procedures and documentation.
•    Facilitate portions of new hire orientation, provides professional guidance on HR policies, systems, and compliance requirements.
•    Participate in cross functional HR projects, system enhancements, and process redesign initiatives with increasing ownership and accountability.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.


Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

Preferred Requirements: 

•    Bachelor's degree (or higher) in human resources, business, or closely related field.
•    One (1) year of general Human Resources experience.
•    Experience with Payroll or payroll support including knowledge of pay periods, payroll calendars, HR-related forms, deductions, direct deposits, and/or position/pay change processes.
•    Basic knowledge of employment eligibility requirements, including Form I-9, E-Verify, work authorization, and re-verification.
•    Experience using SAP or a related HR system (e.g., Workday, SuccessFactors).
•    Experience using Microsoft software (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
