The Role - Supervising Physician (Nurse Practitioner Oversight – Infusion Services)
We are seeking a licensed physician to provide clinical supervision and oversight for nurse practitioners delivering infusion services in ambulatory infusion settings. This role is designed for a physician who is interested in a low-time-commitment, high-impact opportunity supporting quality, safety, and compliance across multiple states.
This is a flexible, part-time contract role (1099 or similar arrangement) with minimal required hours and primarily virtual engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide required physician supervision for nurse practitioners in accordance with state regulations (South Carolina, North Carolina, and Ohio)

  • Conduct quarterly (at minimum) virtual meetings with supervised nurse practitioners to:

    • Review clinical cases

    • Provide guidance and mentorship

    • Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and standards of care

    • Perform periodic chart reviews and quality assurance checks

    • Be available on an as-needed basis for clinical consultation

  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to support:

    • Ongoing quality improvement initiatives

    • Protocol development and updates

    • Compliance with regulatory and payer requirements

  • Maintain appropriate documentation of supervisory activities as required by each state

Scope & Time Commitment

  • Estimated time commitment: ~2–5 hours per month (may vary slightly based on number of NPs and state requirements)

  • Quarterly virtual meetings (required)

  • Flexible scheduling; no set daily clinical hours required

  • No direct patient care required (unless otherwise agreed upon)

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with active, unrestricted medical licenses in:

    • South Carolina (required)

    • North Carolina (required)

    • Ohio (required)

  • Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or similar)

  • Experience working with or supervising nurse practitioners preferred

  • Familiarity with infusion therapy or ambulatory care settings is a plus

  • Strong commitment to clinical quality, collaboration, and patient safety

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to enter into a collaborative/supervisory agreement per state-specific regulations

  • Maintain professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain)

  • Comfortable working in a remote, asynchronous environment
