Under general supervision, the MWR Technician coordinates activities required to operate Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facilities. Typical duties include the following - Provides exercise guidance, testing, and supervision to MWR users and teaches group exercise classes; Plans, and assigns work of host country national attendants in MWR facilities; Monitors and organizes the use of MWR facility computers, phones, and other office equipment; Arranges maintenance and provides very basic technical support for MWR facility computer hardware and software; Assists with health program delivery; Maintains monthly health bulletin boards and educational materials; Provide management assistance

- Plans, and assigns work of host country national attendants in MWR facilities
- Monitors and organizes the use of MWR facility computers, phones, and other office equipment
- Arranges maintenance and provides very basic technical support for MWR facility computer hardware and software
- Assists with health program delivery
- Maintains monthly health bulletin boards and educational materials
- Provide management assistance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required.
- Experience:
- Two years of recreational activities experience.
- Two years of Customer service knowledge and experience.
- Minimum of two years technical experience involving the coordination of organized team sports, recreation club activities, and social event scheduling
- Must be able to read/write and speak English.
- Strong Customer Service Skills and Programming Execution
- Knowledge of the principles, rules, materials, and equipment requirements of recreational activities in assigned area.
- Knowledge of tournament brackets, tournament operations, various sports skills and rules.
- Preferred:
- CPR/AED and First Aid certified by a nationally/internationally accredited organization is preferred
- MWR armed forces experience is preferred
- Skills:
- Ability to carry out recreational activities; maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports.
- Ability to understand recreational programs; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; give instructions in assigned recreation activities.
- Ability to maintain discipline and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the general public.
- Capable of carrying supplies weighing 10 to 50 pounds to various field and playing locations.
- Requires ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Working Conditions:
- Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
- Physical Requirements:
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
