JOB SUMMARY
The Bartender offers, prepares, and serves beverages and food to members and guests. The bartender will greet members, learning about their preferences, answering questions, recommending menu items, providing an exceptional dining experience. The bartender is required to be knowledgeable in mixology and service, have a positive and engaging personality, keeping a professional appearance and performance. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Greets and welcomes members and guest.
- Reads and listens to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations and taking drink orders.
- Informs members about new beverage additions and specials.
- Selects and mixes ingredients, garnishes glasses, and serves beverages under standard recipes.
- Follows the state of Texas laws regarding guidelines and requirements for serving alcohol.
- Takes inventory and orders supplies to ensure bar is well stocked.
- Adheres to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. Maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items.
- Develops new cocktails recipes.
- Processes orders, payments, and charges correctly.
- Must be passionate about hospitality, food, and have menu knowledge. Must be able to describe all menu items, and to assist patrons with having a great dining experience.
- Must be able to identify food allergies and make proper recommendations.
- Must be able to recommend food pairing with wine.
- Must ware assigned uniforms. Must be clean and pressed with their own name tag.
- Bartenders are responsible for preparing their closing shift report as well as duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
