Lead a team of transportation coordinators that orchestrates the inbound freight to ensure that product moves through the Sobeys network safely and efficiently.
Here’s where you’ll have an impact:
Inbound Load Planning
- Carrier and Supplier Coordination: Communicate directly with suppliers and carriers to finalize pickup and delivery details.
- TMS Management: Use a Transportation Management System (TMS) to plan loads and ensure they are optimized for freight efficiency.
- Exception Management: Plan and execute urgent "rush" load and manage exception processes.
Carrier Management
- Carrier Auditing: Administer carrier rate agreements and audit carriers for operational performance.
- Track and Trace: Monitor loads in real-time to ensure successful pickup, delivery, and on-time arrival.
Data Insights & Reporting
- KPI Reporting: Generate daily and weekly reports on key operational metrics.
- Variance Analysis: Conduct monthly analysis of expenses and service quality to identify trends or budget deviations.
- Ad-hoc Reporting: Provide data insights and recommendations to leadership for improving cost management and process standardization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for internal teams (Replenishment, RSC’s) to coordinate the flow of goods.
- Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs and enhancing network efficiency.
- Inquiry Lead: Act as the lead for all internal and external customer inquiries regarding shipment status and performance.
What you bring to the table:
- 5 years of experience in transportation/logistics
- Knowledge of warehouse and transportation systems
- Proven/effective management skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Access
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Relevant designation/ credentials in logistics, supply chain, and/ or transportation (P.Log, CITT, CPIM or PMAC, ERP) is an asset
