Lead a team of transportation coordinators that orchestrates the inbound freight to ensure that product moves through the Sobeys network safely and efficiently.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:  

 Inbound Load Planning

  • Carrier and Supplier Coordination: Communicate directly with suppliers and carriers to finalize pickup and delivery details.
  • TMS Management: Use a Transportation Management System (TMS) to plan loads and ensure they are optimized for freight efficiency.
  • Exception Management: Plan and execute urgent "rush" load and manage exception processes.

Carrier Management

  • Carrier Auditing: Administer carrier rate agreements and audit carriers for operational performance.
  • Track and Trace: Monitor loads in real-time to ensure successful pickup, delivery, and on-time arrival.

Data Insights & Reporting

  • KPI Reporting: Generate daily and weekly reports on key operational metrics.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct monthly analysis of expenses and service quality to identify trends or budget deviations.
  • Ad-hoc Reporting: Provide data insights and recommendations to leadership for improving cost management and process standardization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for internal teams (Replenishment, RSC’s) to coordinate the flow of goods.
  • Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs and enhancing network efficiency. 
  • Inquiry Lead: Act as the lead for all internal and external customer inquiries regarding shipment status and performance.

What you bring to the table: 

  • 5 years of experience in transportation/logistics
  • Knowledge of warehouse and transportation systems 
  • Proven/effective management skills 
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities 
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Access 
  • Strong customer service skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • Relevant designation/ credentials in logistics, supply chain, and/ or transportation (P.Log, CITT, CPIM or PMAC, ERP) is an asset
