TITLE: Occupational Therapist BUILDING/DEPARTMENT: Student Services
REPORTS TO: Executive Director Student Services BARGAINING UNIT: FEA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine students’ eligibility for occupational
therapy services under IDEA and Section 504 as part of a multi-disciplinary team
● Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized assessments related to fine
motor, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, self-care, and functional school
participation skills.
● Prepare timely written evaluation reports with clear, educationally relevant
recommendations.
● Contribute and participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs
(IEPs) by identifying measurable goals aligned with students’ educational needs, as
appropriate.
● Provide input regarding accommodations, modifications, assistive technology, and
service delivery models.
● Collaborate with case managers to ensure therapy services are implemented in
accordance with IEP requirements and timelines.
● Provides direct therapy through various activities to develop and maintain living skills.
● Designs, constructs or modifies special equipment to meet individual needs.
● Coordinates the development and evaluation of a school-wide occupational therapy
program.
● Provide consultative services to teachers and staff to support student access to
curriculum and school activities.
● Provide training and strategies to staff and families to support student skill
development and generalization.
● Project budget needs
● Documents needs for equipment and materials.
● Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with State guidelines and
school policy.
● Participates in identified professional development activities to enhance professional
skills and knowledge.
● Maintains regular, predictable, and punctual attendance, as well a physical presence,
during regularly scheduled work hours at assigned worksite.
● Performs the physical requirements of the position, work within the established working
conditions of the position.
● Performs other job functions as assigned.

● Thorough knowledge of the theory, principal methods of occupational therapy.
● Working knowledge of normal child development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree from accredited program of occupational therapy
EXPERIENCE:
● Preferred school based occupational therapy experience
CLEARANCES/CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Current fingerprints on file with OSPI with results
satisfactory to the district
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
● Valid/appropriate state Licensure as Occupational Therapist
● ESA Certification (have or able to obtain)
● Department of Health License
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: Sexual Misconduct Disclosure process completed with results
satisfactory to the district
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be
met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand/walk and use
hands, for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will occasionally sit, bend neck and
back, use hands for pushing/pulling, use hands for fine manipulation, squat, kneel, climb stairs/ladders,

reach overhead, lift overhead, knee stand, lift and carry, and push/pull. The employee is required to
constantly lift/carry less than 10 lbs and frequently will lift/carry a maximum of 20 lbs. The employee will
occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 52 lbs. This position requires pushing a maximum force of 32 lbs
and pulling up to a maximum force of 31 lbs. Anything over the weight limits should be done as a
two-person lift or with a mechanical lift.
