Job Description

LOOKING TO FILL 7 PARK RANGER POSITIONS FOR THE UPCOMING PARK SEASON (MAY THROUGH OCTOBER) - EACH UP TO 19.5 HOURS PER WEEK WITH A VARIED SCHEDULE.  POSTING WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Park and Recreation Director, or his/her designee, incumbent maintains positive public relations with Glastonbury citizens and visitors, answering questions, directing traffic, explaining ordinances and regulations affecting behavior within town parks, open space and preserves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Answers questions about the Town park system; provides directions to area attractions and services; and provides referrals about obtaining permits.
  2. Patrols areas of the Town, monitoring for and reporting to Police Department, violations of Town ordinances, safety hazards, suspicious persons or activity.  Provides written witness statements.
  3. Directs traffic at public events.
  4. Participates in setup/cleanup for public events.
  5. Provides first aid and CPR/AED.                                                         

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Performs other duties as required.

  • Observes safe work practices
  • Observes state traffic laws
  • Represents the Town in a professional and courteous manner at all times; observes and respects the dignity of all persons

DEPENDABILITY:

  • Regularly attends and is punctual for work
