Boulder County Office of Sustainability, Climate Action & Resilience (OSCAR) is seeking to hire a Business Sustainability Outreach FellowPartners for a Clean Environment (PACE) is dedicated to providing businesses in Boulder County with technical assistance and resources necessary to implement sustainability projects and reduce the negative impacts of their operations on the environment. PACE focuses on energy efficiency, transportation mobility, waste reduction, water quality, and conservation.

As a program of PACE, the Business Sustainability Fellow will have a focus on equity outreach and working with businesses. Outreach campaigns will include the following programs: reusable solutions; compost contamination education: LED lighting upgrades; electric landscape equipment grants and refrigeration and kitchen equipment grants.

While the position is predominantly focused on outreach, the Business Sustainability Fellow will also work with the PACE team to provide feedback on program design, implementation, and reporting. Candidates who speak Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and other languages are encouraged to apply.

This is an hourly, non-benefited position with an anticipated end date of 12/31/2026 that will work 20-25 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm. This position is funded for up to 800 hours in 2026 with a flexible schedule of 20-40 hours per week. This position will work in the field with businesses as well as out of 2020 13th St., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). 

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $28.67 - $30.10 Hourly 

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of May 18th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of May 25th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of June 1st
  • Reference Check: Week of May 25th

Position Duties

  1. Outreach to targeted businesses in Boulder County
  2. Provide education and information about PACE’s programs to businesses
  3. Support businesses in accessing resources and enroll businesses in PACE’s programming
  4. Help revise and develop outreach strategies
  5. Track outreach efforts and log programmatic accomplishments
  6. Completes related work, and attend meetings as required
  7. Performs related work, as required
  8. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:

  • 2 (two) years of education or experience in business, marketing, communications, environmental sciences, renewable resources, environmental policy or management, sustainability, or related fields

Additional related education may count towards required experience.

Other Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Access to reliable transportation that is readily available for business use
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese
  • Experience with community outreach, interacting with businesses
  • Background involving research
