Job Description

Summary of Functions

Repairs and rebuilds upholstered furniture up to and including residential, commercial, boats, vehicles and all other projects by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians- Internal Controls, and Northern Quest Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure quality of facility meets all set standards.
  • Responsible for repairing and maintaining physical structure of establishment.
  • Removes covering, webbing, and padding from seat, arms, back, and sides of work piece.
  • Removes defective springs by cutting cords or wires that hold them in place.
  • Replaces webbing and springs or reties springs.
  • Measures and cuts new covering material.
  • Installs material on inside of arms, back, and seat, and over outside back and arms of wooden frame.
  • Tacks or sews ornamental trim, such as braid and buttons, to cover or frame.
  • Operate sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material.
  • Repairs wooden frame of work piece.
  • Refinishes wooden surfaces.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for Business Levels.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings.

Education

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and other computer software.
  • Data input and operation of Maintenance PM System and E-Req System.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with public department heads, associates and the public.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure conditions.

 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Work Permit.
  • Washington or Idaho State Driver’s License (Must be in possession while operating a Tribal Vehicle).
  • Certification required to operate a forklift.
  • Available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

 

Physical Demands

  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discrimination in sound.
  • Constantly requires verbally expressing or exchanging ideas of important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
  • Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.  Infrequently it requires crouching.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Casino environment with exposure to tobacco smoke, noise, and gaming activity
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles
  • Primarily indoor environment with occasional temperature variation
  • Moderate noise level with continuous guest interaction

Travel Requirements

Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Typical travel time is generally less than a week.
