ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the design and engineering of Battery Energy Storage Systems, DC systems and MV power systems such as switchgear and distribution equipment.
- Support the preparation and execution of system studies including ampacity, load flow, short circuit analysis, and loss studies.
- Work with project teams to support the preparation, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of engineering project activities.
- Assist in interpreting client needs and project requirements and translating them into engineering solutions.
- Review manufacturer equipment drawings and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and quality assurance policies.
- Assist in performing quality control checks on engineering deliverables including drawings, calculations, and studies.
- Support review of engineering deliverables and assist in implementing corrective actions when required.
- Coordinate with designers and drafters to ensure drawings meet engineering requirements.
- Work with team on changing trends in technology
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field.
- 0-2+ years of experience in battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, distribution systems, or MV power systems.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain preferred.
- Basic understanding of medium- and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, breakers, and protection devices.
- Experience in the utility scale renewable energy industry and/or utility scale power delivery is a plus.
- Must be authorized for full-time work in Canada or the United States.
- Basic understanding of relevant codes and standards including IEEE, NEC, NESC, and NFPA.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
