TITLE:  Universal (Tier 1) Team Leader (1 Position)


 


LOCATION: Yankee Ridge Multilingual School


 


SUPERVISOR:  The building principal and the Superintendent


 


JOB SUMMARY:  Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day.  PBIS creates schools where all students succeed. Universal Tier I PBIS practices and systems establish a foundation of regular, proactive support while preventing unwanted behaviors. Universal supports are provided to all students, school-wide.  


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 



  • Support and lead the school’s Universal PBIS team 

  • Organize the monthly Universal PBIS team meeting, including but not limited to preparing agendas, notes, and minutes

  • Understand and champion the data, systems, and practices of PBIS

  • Build commitment within the school for PBIS implementation at all levels (Universal/Tier 1; Tier 2/Tier 3) and with multiple stakeholders (i.e., staff, students, families)

  • Plan for classroom lessons and support implementation in the building

  • Organize the data for decision-making and progress monitoring by the Universal Team

  • Plan for and facilitate the professional development of school staff regarding PBIS practices and systems 

  • Provide support and assist with the implementation of the office discipline referral entry (i.e., Skyward) and universal support for students through Panorama. 

  • Prepare for measuring the fidelity of PBIS implementation using the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI)

  • Participate in PBIS walkthroughs as requested by administration or Central office.

  • Collaborate regularly with the principal, the building administrative team, the building school improvement team, the Tier 2/Tier 3 team leader, and other building leadership.

  • Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of individual teachers and building team members.

  • Attend and participate in district summer professional development opportunities to build leadership capacity.

  • Attend district PBIS meetings as needed for planning, additional training, support, and resources.

  • Attend Program Council meetings.

  • Lead and champion professional development and instructional methods that support Core, Tier I, Tier 2/Tier 3 academics and behavior 

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of PBIS practices and systems within the building leadership team and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Other duties as necessary to strengthen PBIS initiatives in the building


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Proven commitment to establishing a positive school climate through PBIS systems

  • Willingness to learn and be trained on the critical features of PBIS

  • Willingness to help lead the integration of classroom management practices into Universal Tier I systems

  • Ability to lead professional development activities at the building level

  • Ability to form strong professional relationships with colleagues

  • Ability to lead Universal Tier I activities in collaboration with the principal/administrative team and members of the school improvement team

  • Promote shared decision-making and the ability to work collaboratively with administrators, building team leaders, and classroom teachers

  • Ability to lead PBIS professional development activities that support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Classroom Learning Communities (CLCs)


 


LICENSES/CREDENTIAL: Current Illinois Professional Educator License 


 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  



  • Benefit information can be found on the Human Resources webpage

  • This is a stipend-position paid at $1,000-$2,000 depending on the level of grant funding received.  

  • This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.

  • This is an exempt position.

  • This is at least a one-year commitment for the 2026-2027 school year.  

  • This position requires participation on the school improvement team. Universal (Tier 1) Team Leaders are not eligible for the SIP stipend.
