Description

Job Title:                       Director of Nursing

Job Overview:              The Director of Nursing will oversee the nursing team and provide medical input and guidance to the care management and clinical teams.

Requirements

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities, chronic disease and social determinants of health.
  • Ability to engage people with behavioral health needs.
  • Ability to teach and lead others while providing medical expertise.
  • Ability to speak and convey medical information to groups of people.
  • Knowledge of person-centered planning regulations.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional responsibilities and boundaries.
  • Demonstrates capacity to use Health Information Technology to facilitate communication.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality regulations/HIPPA.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work in timely manner.
  • Proactively approaches professional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a comfort level of engaging with people with behavioral health needs.

 

Experience: 

  • RN with at least 5 years OPWDD experience.
  • Strong computer knowledge.
  • Familiarity with person-first, person-centered planning concepts.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee regional nursing support specialists.
  • Develop policy and procedures related to execution of nursing support specialist roles.
  • Liaison between the nursing and other departments to ensure that policies and procedures are being streamlined.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team on an ongoing basis
  • Provide medical input and guidance to nursing, care management, and clinical teams
  • Oversee development of health related trainings
  • Conduct case reviews upon request
  • Construct/implement policies and procedures.
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned
