Hourly Rate: $60/hour (1099 Only)

We are currently seeking a Cable Plant Technician to support our federal government customer in Washington, DC. This is a temporary, on-site assignment expected to last approximately 8�10 weeks, working 30�40 hours per week.

Please note: Due to the secure nature of this government agency, all candidates must be able to meet any client-specific background investigation requirements.

The Opportunity

This position is ideal for a skilled technician with hands-on experience supporting copper and fiber cable plant environments. The Cable Plant Technician will assist with installation, testing, maintenance, documentation, and support of cable plant infrastructure within a federal facility. This is a highly physical, detail-oriented role requiring strong technical execution, accuracy, and the ability to work independently in a mission-critical environment.

What You�ll Do

Cable Plant Operations & Support


� Operate, maintain, and support day-to-day cable plant activities.

� Test newly installed copper and fiber wiring from the demarcation point to user endpoints.

� Install cabling, hardware, pathways, and related components required for facility wiring.

� Maintain and update cable plant documentation, including circuit and routing records.

Installation, Design & Enhancements

� Support installation design, procurement, and installation of new cabling and equipment.

� Assist with configuration and validation testing to ensure compliance with cabling standards.

Construction & Infrastructure Coordination

� Assist in monitoring construction, renovation, and remodeling activities affecting cable pathways.

� Maintain cable support equipment and routing infrastructure for internal and external pathways.

� Monitor commercial communication provider activities that may impact facility cabling.

Technical Certification Requirement

� Each cable work order requires the involvement of a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certified by BICSI or equivalent; this role will support those work orders.

Qualifications

� 3+ years of hands-on experience as a cable technician supporting copper and fiber installations.

� Experience installing, terminating, labeling, and testing CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A and fiber optic cabling.

� Proficiency using cable testing tools and certification equipment for copper and fiber systems.

� Knowledge of BICSI, ANSI/TIA/EIA, and related cabling standards.

� Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, floor plans, and routing maps.

� Experience assisting with cable routing during construction or renovation activities.

� Ability to maintain accurate documentation and cable plant records.

� Strong communication skills and ability to work well with engineers, contractors, and service providers.

� Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

� Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC for the full duration of the assignment.

� Ability to meet all customer-specific background investigation requirements.

Preferred

� RCDD certification (BICSI) or experience working alongside an RCDD.

� Experience working in government or large enterprise cable plant environments.

� Experience with cable management or asset tracking systems.

� Familiarity with fiber splicing, OTDR testing, or loss measurement tools.

Work Environment

� Temporary, on-site role based in Washington, DC.

� 30�40 hours per week for approximately 8�10 weeks.

� Mission-focused environment supporting a federal facility.

Physical Demands

� Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs without issue.


� Must be able to bend, lift, pull cables, and maneuver in tight spaces as needed.
