Environmental Planner
Location: Remote (Southern CA region preferred)
Compensation: $65,000 - $130,000 annually (dependent on experience)
We are looking for qualified Environmental Planners to perform professional-level community planning and development work. They provide information and assistance to developers and the public on land use and planning-related matters, including land use and building applications, planning studies and policy development. These positions support a variety of projects with flexible staffing requirements. Some routine administrative work (research, reports, consultation, etc.) required. Years of experience will determine starting position. There are opportunities for advancement for motivated and knowledgeable candidates
Key Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare, manage and provide quality assurance/quality control of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Proponent’s Environmental Assessment (PEA) documents.
- Conduct field work necessary to complete planning technical studies, environmental documents, and policy documents for specific projects as assigned.
- Manage and complete assignments within parameters of job timeframes and budget.
- Consult with federal, state and local regulatory agencies on scope and impact of projects.
- Prepare scope of work and cost estimates for environmental tasks, including technical studies to be prepared, identification of proper level of CEQA/NEPA environmental documents and levels of efforts to complete documents, etc.
- Conduct environmental impact analyses for various environmental resources.
Qualifications:
- A BA/BS degree or higher in environmental science, urban planning, biology, or related area of study.
- Minimum two plus years of related experience with demonstrated experience in environmental impact assessment, land use planning, land development/entitlements, and/or urban design is preferred.
- Experience with an environmental consulting firm, including schedule and budget management skills is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally, in writing and graphic work and have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct research and write technical reports.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed.
- Willingness to travel for projects as required.
Desired Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel, and Google Earth is desirable.
- Experience with California Public Utility Commission, General Order 131-D is desirable.
- Experience with Clean Water Act (Section 404 and 401) is desirable.
- Experience with MS Project, ARCGIS, and Adobe Illustrator is desirable.
