Duties
Assists the Division Director, and subordinate supervisors, in the accomplishment of short and long-range planning and the execution of actions, which have far-reaching impact on the Division regionally and nationally. Provides ongoing advice and support to subordinate supervisors regarding Branch operations and activities, and the resolution of problems presented by subordinate personnel. Implements decisions made by the Division Director and higher-level agency management officials, often times facilitating the work of subordinate supervisors and personnel to accomplish desired objectives. Advises and guides accountants in the interpretation of accounting systems and issues and in the implementation of procedures and programs. Works to maximize the potential of subordinates to achieve organizational goals and sound business results. Works with subordinates to identify training requirements.
Requirements

If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C or NonCareer SES employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the HR Office. Qualifications

The GS-14 salary range starts at $127,829 per year. Accountant Qualifications: Basic Requirements: You must have either A or B, or C: A. Degree in accounting B. Degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law C. A combination of college level education and experience. Refer to OPM's Accounting Qualification Standard for more information. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is professional accounting experience that included the following: providing sound and authoritative technical guidance related to financial/accounting issues, programs and/or systems; assessing and participating in new system development and system enhancements to improve program effectiveness; and advising on the implementation of accounting procedures and programs. This position has a positive education requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their college or university transcript(s) and certificates by the closing date of announcements to verify qualifications.
