Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct, hands-on care to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This role supports residents’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs while maintaining comfort, safety, and adherence to individualized care plans in a respectful and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, feeding, and mobility
- Measure and document vital signs and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff
- Provide emotional support, reassurance, and companionship to residents
- Promote resident independence while ensuring safety and dignity
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment following infection control and safety guidelines
- Accurately document care provided in accordance with facility policies and CMS requirements
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
- Uphold resident rights and comply with state regulations and facility standards
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in good standing (state-required)
- Prior experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment preferred
- Memory care experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and assist residents weighing up to 60 pounds
