    TITLE:

    Instructional Tutor

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching.
    2. Ability to communicate effectively
    3. Ability to work independently and in cooperation with other adults
    4. Ability to effectively supervise and implement instruction with individual and small groups of students
    5. Ability to maintain confidentiality

    REPORTS TO:
    Building Principal and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
     

    Job Goal: 

    Under the general supervision of the instructional coach, to serve as a remedial resource instructor to improve students' achievement in reading, writing and/or mathematics, implementing district approved remedial reading, writing and mathematics curricula and programs with individual and/or small groups of students.

     

    Essential Functions 

    • Experience working with elementary aged students
    • Conducts remedial learning activities, incorporating technology and a variety of instructional methods and materials
    • Ability to differentiate instruction and progress monitor
    • Develops and administers assessment techniques and methods to ascertain the particular needs of individual students identified as in need of remedial reading, writing and/or mathematics instruction.
    • Effectively communicates with others (students, staff, parents) regarding reading, writing and/or mathematics progress
    • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed
    • Willingness to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the methods of remediation in reading, writing and mathematics by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent, which may include substituting as necessary. 

       

    Schedule:
    Work week is 25-28 hours.  Building principal will establish daily start and end times based on the building schedule.
