The impact you will make:
Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic AD, Translational Medicine and Data Science to join our growing team. We want someone who cares about this important work, and who’s driven to connect to our mission of helping these patient communities. The AD, Translational Medicine and Data Science will be responsible for and accountable for Translational Medicine and biomarker objectives and deliverables for Agios’ clinical programs. This is a critical strategic role that bridges the science and technical aspects of biomarker strategy with the operational aspects for the execution in clinical studies.
What you will do:
- Lead the development of the translational biomarker strategy for development program(s), incorporating the latest research findings and leveraging novel technologies
- Oversee implementation and execution of clinical biomarkers for patient stratification, enrichment and identification, pharmacodynamics, and demonstration of mechanism of action to support clinical development.
- Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Biostats, Data management, and Data Science to ensure clinical sample collection, analyses and data acquisition are valid and compliant.
- Direct and oversee the outsourcing and validation of clinically applicable biomarker assays.
- Generate/review biomarker data and summary of study findings and contribute to clinical documents such as protocols, investigator brochures and regulatory submissions.
- Drive the publication of Translational Medicine data in high-quality scientific, technical or medical journals.
- Ensure effective, cross functional interactions and collaborations across the different functional areas that relate to Biomarker discovery and development.
What you bring:
- PhD or equivalent in biology, genomics or relevant biological fields
- 5+ years of clinical biomarker experience (industry experience preferred)
- Good understanding and experience across technology platforms (e.g. Next-Gen Sequencing, epigenetic and expression profiling, IHC, immunoassays, etc.)
- Familiarity with clinical trial operations and logistics for biomarker specimens
- Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills
- Proven critical reasoning skills including the identification and resolution of complex problems
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and deliver in a timely manner

Work Location:
Location Agnostic: Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. For employees who choose to work remotely, travel may be required for certain company events commensurate to the above job description..

- Competitive and equitable performance-based compensation. This includes base salary and both short- and long-term incentives that are connected to our business strategy and vary based on individual and company performance.
- The current base salary range for this position is expected to be between $153,541 and $230,312 annualized; final salary will be determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, years of relevant experience, job knowledge, skills and proficiency, degree/education, and internal comparators.
