Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

·         Lead the Company’s efforts to develop, implement, and oversee the organization’s insurance program including but not limited to property, general liability, crime, cyber, flood, auto, casualty, product liability, and professional coverages.

·         Evaluate and recommend appropriate policies and limits, negotiate terms, premiums, and renewals with brokers and carriers to ensure effective and cost-efficient coverage.

·         Establish and oversee enterprise risk management strategies, including proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial, operational, legal, and regulatory risks.

·         Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations across all areas of the business.

·         Lead and manage the company’s contract governance function, ensuring all contracts are legally sound, protect the company and its clients, and align with organizational risk tolerance.

·         Oversee the review, drafting standards, and approval processes for contracts, working closely with internal stakeholders and legal counsel.

·         Ensure appropriate risk transfer mechanisms are in place within contracts, including insurance requirements, indemnification clauses, and liability protections.

·         Collaborate with internal stakeholders to analyze business operations, projects, and contracts to ensure adequate risk transfer and compliance requirements are met.

·         Oversee claims management processes, including reporting, investigation, documentation, and resolution, working closely with legal counsel as needed.

·         Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update policies, procedures, and controls to maintain compliance.

·         Establish and enforce company-wide policies and procedures related to risk management, compliance, and contract standards.

·         Lead, mentor, and develop the risk and compliance team, including safety and compliance personnel.

·         Manage relationships with insurance brokers, underwriters, legal advisors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.

·         Conduct risk assessments using data, reports, and market trends to identify potential exposures.

·         Oversee administration and management of customer protection programs, third-party administrators, vendors, and insurance carriers.

·         Develop and deliver training programs to promote risk awareness and compliance across the organization.

·         Draft and present risk and compliance reports, metrics, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

·         In office scheduling requirements are determined by your supervisor and are subject to change at any time.

·         Additional duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

·         Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in risk management, compliance, legal, or related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

·         Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, law, or related field required. Experience in storage facility management or related industry is a plus. 

·         Minimum of 10+ years’ experience with strong knowledge of insurance programs, regulatory requirements, and contract law principles.

·         Experience developing and implementing compliance programs and internal controls across multiple states.

·         Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior leadership.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

·         Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

·         Excellent attention to detail, organizational, project, and time management skills.

·         Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 

 

Language Skills:  Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language.

 

Work Hours:  In a typical week, this position requires a minimum of 40 hours with regular and predictable attendance.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

 

Work Environment:  This work is usually performed indoors in an office environment with normal noise levels and no exposure to hazardous conditions. Employees in this position are required to reside in a state where SAM is registered to conduct business.
