Job Description
  • Work one-on-one with child, implementing individual lessons and behavior intervention plans as specified by the behavior consultant.
  • Monitor progress by accurately recording each session and providing notes as indicated by behavior consultant on designated data sheets, or in online data collection system.
  • Know and understand the specific goals and behavior plans of each client you are assigned.
  • Implementation of each individual lesson (specific instruction, the exact target response that the child must display, the specific prompt level anticipated before giving the instruction, and the appropriate amount/type of the consequence for the target response).
  • Communication with behavior consultant for questions on lesson implementation or progression, training needs, problems with child's progression, behavior excesses, etc.
  • Some clients require in-home services on a regular basis; other clients receiving center based services require monthly in- home visits in addition to their time at the center. Center based paraprofessionals are expected to provide therapy in the child’s home as directed by their supervisor.
  • Complete medical notes for each session and collect parent signature at the end of the day.
  • Check and convert daily billing and timekeeping records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Competencies or Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis, command of terminology in order to effectively communicate with supervisors and administration, understanding and working knowledge of the basic behavioral principles, discrete trials training (DTT) implementation, task analysis, verbal behavior, and incidental teaching; knowledge of prompt hierarchy, PECS and DTT; ability to appropriately address behavior excesses (i.e., tantrum, aggression, etc.) utilizing proactive and reactive strategies.
  • Punctual to sessions and meetings, consistently at work and on time, presents self professionally, dresses appropriately.
  • Works well independently and as a team player; maintains effective and proper working relationships among coworkers, clients, and supervisors; welcomes feedback, accepts responsibility for own actions, follows directions, follows proper chain of command.
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations, keeps emotions under control, maintains client and company confidentiality.
  • Effective oral and written communication, participates in meetings and overlaps with supervisors.
  • Sets and achieves goals, adheres to a schedule, pursues training and development opportunities, volunteers readily, asks for help and offers help when needed, applies feedback to improve performance, monitors own work to ensure quality and accuracy, meets productivity standards, ability to multi-task, organizes work, completes work in timely manner, checks and responds to email within 48 hrs., completes billing on time and accurately.

  • Observes safety and security procedures, reports unsafe conditions while using equipment and materials properly.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

 

Center Based Paraprofessionals

In addition to the above, the Center Based paraprofessionals will also complete communication logs daily, change diapers, assist in the general upkeep of the center and will arrive to scheduled shifts 5 min. prior to client start time to put away personal belongings, check daily schedule, set-up and prepare.
