About the Department
Provide didactic, clinical and radiography laboratory instruction to dental hygiene students and assist in administration of the operation of the HCC Dental Hygiene Program. Not to exceed 25 hours per week.
Position Duties
Knowledge of American Dental Association accreditation process
Knowledge of the current blood borne pathogen standard requirements regarding infection control and HazCom standards
Current CPR Certification
Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
Be innovative, creative, motivated
Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
Good organizational skills
Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as BlackBoard
Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of two calendar years experience in the clinical practice of dental hygiene; currently licensed to practice in North Carolina; eligible to obtain a provisional license in practice dental hygiene in North Carolina as a faculty member.
Associates or higher degree; teaching experience in dental hygiene and course development preferred.
