Shift/schedule: Contingent (Works as needed)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Lead Athletic Trainer and the Wellness Operations Manager. The Athletic Trainer Tech's primary job function is to provide assistance in assigned provider offices under the supervision of a physician or his/her designee. The Athletic Trainer Tech will work closely and coordinate with the assigned team. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's Degree program focusing on Exercise Science or related field required.

Licensure:

  • BLS within 60 days of hire required
  • BMVL required

Experience:

  • None

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 

  1. Assists providers in back office duties, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, patient history and assists with minor procedures.
  2. Communicates and demonstrates a professional image/attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers and others.
  3. Adheres to policies and practices applicable for SOMC and professional organizations.
  4. Provides patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence.
  5. Collaborates with the physical therapist and the provider on delivering education to patients and families.
  6. Documents patient response to treatment.
  7. Participates in program quality management activities.
  8. Contributes to the delivery of cost effective care.
  9. Conducts research on subject matter related to athletic training or sports medicine.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
