Position Overview

AKIVA is seeking a senior Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) with deep operational and international experience to lead Safety Organizational-Level Process support for the FAA Air Traffic Organization. You will represent AKIVA in international working groups (CANSO, ICAO, trilateral activities), produce technical recommendations and reports for FAA leadership, and provide AJI mission support across data integrity, separation/loss analysis, training material development, and meeting facilitation. The role suits a former Certified Professional Controller or comparable senior ATCS who can translate operational expertise into policy-grade products.


Key Responsibilities

·         Develop and provide technical recommendations for international reports and meeting materials supporting CANSO Safety Program, ICAO initiatives, trilateral activities, and engagements with Air Navigation Service Providers

·         Participate in international meetings and conferences; record and distribute meeting and conference notes and minutes

·         Verify data integrity and the accuracy of calculations using source data

·         Evaluate and provide summary data for separation losses and event analysis

·         Develop training materials, including videos, when required

·         Participate in meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and capture and distribute meeting minutes and notes

·         Provide Air Traffic operations subject matter expertise to assessment, audit, and analytics workstreams as needed

·         Coordinate with the Program Manager on workstream status, deliverable status, and risk

·         Ensure all deliverables are Section 508 compliant


Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience as a Certified Professional Controller may be substituted)

·         8+ years of professional Air Traffic Control or Air Traffic Operations experience

·         5+ years in senior ATCS, supervisory, or staff specialist roles

·         Demonstrated experience supporting international aviation safety initiatives or working groups

·         Demonstrated experience producing federal-grade technical documentation, including reports, briefings, and meeting minutes

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage at the international and executive level

·         Ability and willingness to travel internationally as required

·         Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential

·         Must be authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications

·         Master's degree in Aviation, Aviation Management, or related discipline

·         Certified Professional Controller (CPC) status, current or prior, in an FAA terminal or en route facility

·         Prior assignment to FAA headquarters, ATO, or comparable national-level program office

·         Experience supporting CANSO, ICAO, or trilateral aviation safety activities

·         Familiarity with ATO Audits and Assessments processes (JO 2900.2) and Air Traffic Quality Assurance (JO 7210.633A)

·         Section 508 Trusted Tester certification

·         Familiarity with AI-assisted briefing-generation and data-analysis tools
