Custodian


 


Job Summary:


To provide custodial services to support the delivery of instruction to the students of the district and to promote exemplary care for district facilities.  


 


Reports to: Custodial Supervisor and Site Administrator


 Qualifications:



  1. High School diploma or equivalent

  2. Demonstrate communication skills

  3. Demonstrate public relations skills

  4. Minimum age of 18 years

  5. Ability to perform job responsibilities

  6. Valid New Mexico Driver’s License

  7. Must complete a fingerprint background check

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Follow local, state and federal law, adhere to the State Public Education Department Regulations and follow Aztec School Board Policy

  2. Clean all classrooms daily within the assigned area of the building

    1. Wash chalkboard or whiteboard daily

    2. Clean student desks weekly

    3. Empty trash cans daily

    4. Vacuum classroom daily

    5. Dust classroom as needed



  3. Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms

  4. Wash windows as needed.

  5. Wax floors twice a school year

  6. Clean hallway walls, lockers and stairwells monthly

  7. Use cleaning solutions properly and safely as needed

  8. Use power equipment as needed, i.e. waxers, buffers, scrubbers, etc.

  9. Work with students, staff and parents in a positive manner

  10. Perform minor maintenance repairs, i.e. fix jammed lockers, stuck doors, move furniture, etc.

  11. Request needed custodial supplies through the Custodial Supervisor

  12. Follow safety regulations and procedures and use personal protective equipment effectively

  13. Replace light bulbs as needed using no higher than a six-foot ladder

  14. Perform summer deep cleaning

  15. Assist with the relocation of furniture and equipment as needed

  16. Turn in Maintenance Work Orders using the electronic work order program for major repairs

  17. Push a supply cart throughout the building, sometimes over carpeting

  18. Assist with the routine preventative maintenance and repair of custodial equipment

  19. May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities

  20. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices

  21. Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels

  22. Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.

  23. Operate vacuums and other related equipment

  24. Use hand and power tools applicable to trade

  25. Lift and manipulate heavy objects, over 25 lbs.

  26. Maintain clean building entrances that are free from litter

  27. Other duties as assigned

  7. Ability to stoop repetitively and climb six-foot ladders as needed
