Job Description

About the Opportunity:

The EHS Specialist will provide professional and effective administrative support for the EHS department.

Qualifications (Required and Preferred):

Education: HS Grad/equivalent (R); BS in Occupational Safety and Health (P)

Experience:  Two years in Environmental, Health, & Safety (R)

Areas of Knowledge:  Working knowledge of 29CFR1910 (R); OSHA Regulations (R); 40 CFR Environmental Regulations - DOT/RCRA (R ), Air Programs (P), Water Programs (P), SPCC (P); ISO 14001-2015 and 45001- 2018 (P)

Skills (R):  Computer Literate- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams; detail-orientated; ability to prioritize and multi-task; good written and verbal communication; project Management; ability to work with multiple levels throughout the organization

Specific Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists with the tracking of departmental and company measurements that support the accomplishments of the EHS Department's strategic goal. Prepares and maintains reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the EHS department
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as necessary to represent the department
  • Consolidates and emails out weekly reports to management
  • Work to promote safety and environmental policy as a way of doing business
  • Handle all aspects of site PPE and LOTO program to include ordering, issuing, and maintaining inventory according to site 5S principles
  • Assist with the implementation of company safety and health programs
  • Document weekly, monthly, safety equipment inspections ( to include but not limited to weekly fire pump test, fire extinguishers, safety shower/eyewash, AED, spill kit, emergency lights)
  • Document weekly, monthly, and quarterly environmental inspections (to include waste storage areas, storm water outfalls, spill containment, etc.)
  • Oversee and manage 90-day storage and environmental pick-ups
  • Oversee and work with corporate ESG recycling program, track monthly waste and scrap totals
  • Active member of hazmat and confined space rescue teams, as well as site safety committee team
  • Assist with new hire training as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by EHS Supervisor and/or HR Manager
