Job Description

The Technical Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating Survey Operations activities in accordance with ABS Rules, Guides, statutory requirements, and internal procedures. The position serves as a key operational interface between Surveyors, clients, Flag Administrations, and internal ABS Departments to ensure effective delivery of classification and statutory services.

What You Will Do:

  • Overall responsibility for coordination and support of short  and long term Operations activities and Survey-related matters within the Operations Department.
  • Serve as the initial client interface for day to day Survey related requests, ensuring timely review, appropriate assignment, and effective follow up in accordance with ABS procedures.
  • Coordinate internally with other ABS Departments (Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Technology, Finance, and Business Development) to facilitate accurate and efficient information flow.
  • Monitor and manage internal and external correspondence through the Piraeus Operations shared mailbox, for immediate attention or escalation to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor and manage correspondence with Flag Administrations, with particular emphasis on the Hellenic Republic Flag Administration, including submissions, follow ups, approvals, and statutory documentation tracking.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to Surveyors related to survey planning, documentation submission, and operational follow up.
  • Coordinate and manage the Transfer of Class (TOC) process, including verification of documentation, internal alignment, and follow up actions in accordance with ABS procedures.
  • Support data entry, record maintenance, and reporting within ABS operational systems and databases in accordance with established requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head.

     

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university, preferably in a business/technical discipline, or equivalent business/quality-related experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in the industry is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Considerable attention to detail and accuracy in handling technical documentation, correspondence, and operational data.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, and Access (Knowledge in P.C. computer-based project management, spreadsheet, database, and graphical presentation programs and, preferably, word processing.)
  • Ability to respond to telephone inquiries in a professional and business-like manner.
  • Demonstrate ability in decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, exercises sound judgment and has a sense of diplomacy.
  • Familiarity or ability to develop knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, Statutory requirements and related Flag Administration processes.

     

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to the Principal Surveyor In Charge.
