Overview:

RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN.

 

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities:

Location: Crookston (In-person)
Schedule: PRN - On Call
Scheduled hours: PRN (as needed)

Pay Range: $19.54 - $27.36; non-benefitted

 

 

River View Health has an opening for a (PRN) Phlebotomist. This position would cover shifts between 6am-6pm and supports all Riverview Health patient care areas. May include weekend shifts as needed.

 

  • Uses equipment to collect samples of blood and other fluids from patients/residents from patients, labelling them correctly and sending them off for analysis and testing. Ensures patient/resident safety during the sample collection process. 
  • Communicates with patients/residents, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures. 

  • Must work well under pressure and be sensitive to concerns and confidentiality of the patient
  • Patients serviced include those in the following age groups: infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric
  • Explains procedures to patients/residents and collects information from them in a professional manner.
  • Records and documents patient/resident information accurately.
  • Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures. 


Qualifications:

Minimum(s):

  • Diploma or GED
  • Required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If not certified at time of hire, must be certified within 4 months of hire

Preferred(s):

  • Phlebotomy Certification, or at least 1 year of Phlebotomy experience or experience working in a laboratory related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting
  • Computer experience – Microsoft Office products
