Role Overview

We are seeking a highly independent Mid-Level Ruby on Rails Developer to join our team for a long-term engagement (12+ months). This is a critical backfill role to support our ongoing projects alongside our onsite and existing nearshore teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the Rails framework and the ability to work effectively within a North American timezone.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: 4–6 years of professional software development experience.
  • Technical Focus: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails.
  • Seniority: Mid-level. You should be capable of working independently without constant supervision, though this is not a Lead or Senior Architect position.
  • Location: Must be located in LATAM (Latin America), excluding Brazil. Preference for candidates in or near Colombia to align with current team structures.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, ship, and maintain high-quality features using Ruby on Rails.
  • Collaborate daily with a distributed team of onsite (US) and nearshore developers.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and contribute to a fast-paced development lifecycle
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven track record of building and scaling web applications using the Rails framework.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) for seamless team integration.
  • Familiarity with standard dev-ops tooling, version control (Git), and agile methodologies.
  • A background in Python is considered a "nice-to-have" or an interesting alternative, but Rails remains the primary priority.
