Office of Research & Innovation, Division of Animal Resources invites applicants to apply for an outstanding opportunity to join our Team as our Infrastructure Manager.


Advertising Summary: The Infrastructure Manager manages department equipment, as well as all related policies and procedures, to ensure the responsible, proper, and safe operation of all DAR equipment. The Infrastructure Manager reports to the Associate Director for Infrastructure, who oversees the macro-environment of the Division of Animal Resources.

In fulfillment of this role, the successful candidate will be independently responsible for the:● Identification of deficiencies of DAR-owned equipment
● Prioritization of repairs
● Conducting and/or coordinating repairs (based upon skill needed and cost analysis)
● Preparation and documentation of a comprehensive preventative maintenance program
● Equipment training (for DAR personnel)
● Equipment evaluation, planning and replacement
● Serve as a backup to the Assoc Director for Infrastructure
● Maintain fixed assets inventory database, as well as internal DAR database. This includes
keeping records up to date and identifying which capital assets are the highest priority for
replacement.
● Identify capital equipment most in need of upgrade or replacement and manage processes to facilitate replacement. This entire process includes identifying vendors, soliciting and studying quotes to choose the most economically and operationally viable option, managing the procurement and renovation process to upgrade and maintain the final product.
● Maintain warehouse operations. This encompasses spare equipment, PPE inventory for the entire DAR staff, and consumables of caging, animal care staff needs, and vet staff needs.
● Manage deliveries and transfers, including acting as supervisor for the delivery driver/operations coordinator.
● Provide direct supervision of the equipment technician and operations coordinator.
● Act as DAR project manager for all construction and renovation projects, including AAALAC prep workup renovations project.
● Act as direct contact with VCU facilities personnel, vendors, and contractors as DAR
representative.


Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications



  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

  • The qualified candidates must have several years of facilities management
    experience with mechanical systems and machinery.

  • The candidate must demonstrate good interpersonal skills.

  • They must also have the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow and retain directions, manage, organize, and prioritize time effectively.

  • Candidates must also have a basic knowledge of safety procedures and an understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

  • A valid driver’s license is required
