Position Summary:
The Cart Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of carts and containers used in waste collection services. This includes performing routine inspections, disposing of damaged carts into roll-off containers for landfill disposal, and operating forklift equipment for cart and lid deliveries. The technician will also track inventory and ensure the proper storage of carts and lids in accordance with FCC standards. Forklift training will be provided, and certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of carts and containers to ensure safe, operational condition and compliance with safety standards.
- Safely operate a forklift for the transportation of cart and lid deliveries (Forklift certification required within 90 days of employment).
- Adhere to all safety protocols to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the efficient operation and management of the cart fleet.
- Assist as a helper on the back of a rear loader truck as needed.
- Operate automated controls and joystick equipment in compliance with FCC safety regulations.
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork, reports, and maintenance logs.
- Maintain departmental productivity standards to ensure all clients are serviced promptly and effectively.
- Ensure the proper storage and organization of container and lid inventory according to FCC standards.
- Communicate with the manager and dispatcher regarding inventory levels and any maintenance needs.
- Always enforce and follow all safety regulations and procedures.
Job Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience and Competencies:
- Previous forklift experience (preferred).
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and the use of safety equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
