About the Role:

The Technology Operations group deliver platforms and services that support critical business processes, and create competitive advantage for Citco and our customers. The IT estate includes a suite of best-of-breed vendor technology platforms that are scheduled to be migrated to AWS Cloud as part of an IT transformation strategy. As a Cloud Engineer, you will deliver and maintain automated IaaS and PaaS provisioning, and pipeline automations to deliver world-class Cloud Operations.


The scope of responsibilities includes:

  • Solutions Architecture and delivery of software platforms to AWS
  • DevOps, CI/CD, Cloud Formation, pipeline automation and delivery as per the AWS Well-Architected Framework
  • Thought leadership in the design and implementation of Cloud migrations strategies for Vendor Applications


The Cloud Engineering function operates within a larger group of AWS specialists that are together developing Citco’s AWS strategy, including the Standards and Architecture group, the Cloud Operations group and product-line DevOps functions. This specialty role will also drive practices in the global Cloud Engineering function for Vendor Applications.

The successful candidate will be a creative, questioning, focused, critical thinker with a passion for finding better ways to do things – and to share these practices within the group as part of Citco’s emergent Cloud capabilities. Able to communicate professionally with technical peers throughout the IT groups. He/she will support initiatives in infrastructure, platform and application deployment, management, configuration auditing, and any other areas where automation can yield improved service delivery. 

 

Job Duties in Brief:

  • Develop and maintain Cloud Engineering/Automation solutions in the areas of DevOps, CI/CD, IaC, HA/DR, Tagging, Cost Controls, Landing Zone Management, Monitoring and Incident Response, Backup, Storage, Image Management, Patching
  • Develop and maintain automated Configuration Management and Auditing processes via Ansible Playbooks or comparable AWS tools, and act in a consultative role to other Operations groups
  • Ensure that solutions are adequately documented and supportable, and delivered per Well-Architected Framework
  • Communicate information related to Cloud Engineering to other IT Teams
  • Assist in the definition of and requirements analysis for technical solutions
  • Interact with Vendors on technical efforts when external resources are engaged
  • Work within an Agile framework, including JIRA and Confluence
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and tools in the AWS, DevOps and Automation spaces

 

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • At least one year of hands-on AWS-specific Cloud Engineering experience is a must
  • Experience building, testing, deploying and operating highly scalable and resilient cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Direct experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, deployment via CodePipeline, DR/HA in AWS, Tagging and Cost Control, Backup and Storage, Monitoring & Incident Management, Systems Compliance, Image Management, Patching, Configuration Management and related domains
  • Solid understanding and experience with AWS services including but not limited to EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, EFS, IAM, CloudFormation, CodePipeline, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Service Catalog, AWS Systems Manager, ELB, Auto Scaling
  • Strong background and understanding of application architectures, networking, security, reliability, resiliency, scalability
  • Experience in Configuration Management via CloudFormation, Ansible, AWS Config
  • Experience in Monitoring and Event Management using CloudTrail, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Config, EKK/ELK and related tools.
  • Highly proficient in at least one of Python, Java or NodeJS
  • Superior critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Some understanding of ITIL practices & other standard IT practices/procedures, particularly as they relate to the cloud.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate or other relevant certifications a plus
